Every Body Plays After-School

The President’s proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2026 includes a proposal to eliminate the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program, which provides the only federal funding for afterschool and summer programs and could lead to widespread closures of afterschool programs and the loss of services for millions of children.

Safe, Engaging, and Impactful After School Opportunities

After School programs (between 3PM-6PM) improve academic performance and social skills, reduce risky behaviors, provide more daily physical activity, and a safe, structured environment for children. They help students stay engaged in learning, develop critical life skills like teamwork and problem-solving, explore new interests, and provide parents with peace of mind.

Children in afterschool programs attend school more often, get better grades, and are more likely to graduate. They are less likely to use drugs or alcohol. According to the After School Alliance, For every child in a program, three are waiting to get in.

Building Community Through Play and Learning

LA County Parks Every Body Plays After-School is a free, drop-in recreational programming that promotes fun, health, and inclusion for all youth. The program provides children and teens with safe spaces after school and during school breaks to get homework help, engage in active play, creative activities, social connection and field trips.

Every child in Every Body Plays After-School receives a nutritious snack, helping address food insecurity.

Help Kids Play, Learn, and Thrive

LACPF partners with LA County Parks to support this program, available at 60 LA County Parks. Youth can drop in Monday through Friday between 2:30pm and 6pm. Together, we’re building healthier communities by integrating safe places, play, learn and recreation.

Help our friends of prey thrive in the urban wild.

The Los Angeles County San Dimas Raptor Rescue is a wildlife rehabilitation center that is dedicated to the rehabilitation of sick, injured and orphaned birds of prey. Our facility takes in 200 to 250 birds each year, and proudly return them to the wild once they are able to survive on their own.  Our ability to feed and care for the raptors is dependent on donor support. The San Dimas Raptor Rescue is permitted and authorized by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

We invite you to be a part of the efforts at the San Dimas Raptor Rescue by investing in an opportunity to celebrate and commemorate your community. By making a tax-deductible donation, you will be contributing to the rescue and rehabilitation of hundreds of Southern California raptors. Thank you for considering to support the San Dimas Raptor Rescue through the Los Angeles County Park Foundation!

Participate in a legacy of habitat rehabilitation and urban wildlife.

Los Angeles County Parks’ first Raptor Rescue, located at the San Dimas Nature Center!  With this rescue, we are meeting a huge void and need for wildlife rehabilitation in Los Angeles County, particularly in the eastern and southern portions of the County. Since receiving State and Federal permits, the Raptor Rescue has quickly adopted over 70 raptors into our program! The Rescue anticipates serving more than 250 injured or orphaned raptors annually, all of which will be rehabilitated and returned to our urban wild. With your partnership, the Los Angeles County Parks Foundation is embarking on an active fundraising campaign (launched July 20th, 2024) to support and sustain the Raptor Rescue.
